A rattle-like instrument representing the god Anubis. Anubis is the jackal headed God of the Underworld, preparing the deceased for the afterlife, and guiding them along the way. The sistrum was used to aid in pacifying the deities, in ritual healing, and to ward off the flooding of the Nile.
