Diviners On Divining is a monthly online class series hosted  by The Cauldron Black and presented and chaired by Dr Alexander Cummins  exploring the mysteries, minutiae, and mastery of divination with a  range of visiting guest diviners.
 
The Diviners On Divining series consists of twelve monthly  events across 2023 featuring a host of very special guest speakers  discussing various fundamental aspects of divination: from focused  exploration of particular systems and styles of oracular reading to  widely-applicable techniques, tips, and tricks of interpretation,  diagnosis, remediation, and enchantment for one’s personal and  professional divinatory practices.
 
We are proud to host a fantastic range of guest speakers with an  illuminating range of expertises for this series which welcomes conjure  doctors, folk healers, mediums, astrolators, cartomancers, rune readers,  witches, geomancers, candle-workers, and many other sorts of diviners  and workers. We are excited to invite you to this series of talks  celebrating the unfolding mysteries and practical wisdoms alike of  divination in its many many forms, functions, and fashions.
 
In this November edition of Diviners on Divining series, we are delighted to welcome santera and Espiritista Melissa Roberts to share her perspectives and experience on the subject of spiritualism, spiritwork, and the misa blanca of Espiritismo. Ms Roberts will be reflecting on the lessons and applications of various forms of spiritual development, mediumship training, and traditional means of elevating ourselves and our ancestors with light and progress.
 
We will consider the wide range of ways that spiritual gifts can manifest, and discuss how bespoke training and development of mediumship can look for different people. We will provide comparisons and contrasts with other spiritual traditions of both the so-called Old and New Worlds, and pay homage to the unique ways that Espiritismo helps its practitioners connect and draw strength and support from their own blends of ethnic and spiritual heritages.
 
Those new to Espiritismo will be ably grounded in not only the history but the practical fundamentals of the tradition, as our conversation will introduce what a misa looks like and how it functions. We will in particular celebrate the working of the boveda – the central organizing locus of stability and fortification of spirit communications and community.
 
Such conversation will develop helpful guidelines for how divination with various guides of one’s spiritual court can function for operations of clarity as well as the removal of spiritual blockages and stagnation. Particular attentions will be paid to the etiquettes of spirit interactions, both within and without the communal support of formal spiritual investigations.
 
This discussion will finally focus on the ethics of such spiritual engagement and development – informed by Ms Roberts’ years of training and experience working for herself and others in her communities – to consider how best a practitioner can develop trust and understanding in their own messages from Spirit as well as help other’s progress and flourish along their paths. In so doing we will offer cautions for spotting unethical practices and practitioners, as well as honour the blessings and responsibilities of cultivating our luz y progreso. 
 
About the Presenter:
Melissa is Medium, Psychic, Omo Oshun in the Lucumi religion, Palera, Esperitista & Curandera. She brings a fresh & vibrant modern form of mediumship to the spiritual movement.
