It is believed by scholars that his persona evolved out of an agricultural Etruscan god Maris, who found a place in the pantheon. Maris and Mars were originally venerated for life giving powers. Spring and the new growth of plants were their concern, and they were called upon for hope and success. Informed by history and the Spring Equinox, this fragrant charm is quite green, allowing its difficult energy to be embraced from a new perspective. ⚘ Warming ginger root, a rubifacient which gently stirs the blood to action
⚘ Ancient evergreen spikes for protection, and evoking the interpretatio romana of Mars in the Norse god of justice Tyr, whose association with sacred trees is used in defensive bind rune inscriptions from the Bronze Age.
⚘ Stinging black and pink pepper, aligned to Scorpio and Aries, respectively
⚘ Nettle essential oil, which is sacred to vernal Aries but also useful energy for Libra, which rules the kidneys and balance.
