In the Han Dynasty, cicadas carved out of jade were placed in the mouths of the deceased before burial. It was believed that through magic, the spirit of the dead would then live on eternally. This cicada talisman is cast in pewter from an ancient Han Dynasty tongue jade. Forged pewter-cast nails make up the powerful collar-style chain. This piece is finished by a custom bronze Ouroboros clasp. This piece is packaged with a “Cicada” Arcana Card and features antique gold over pewter and bronze and Jade. Length 18” with 2.25” pendant
