St. Thomas Aquinas Retablo Patron of Scholars, Theologians, Academics, Book Sellers, Catholic Academies, Schools, and Universities. Learning, Philosophers and Students
Born about 1225, Thomas became known as "The Light of the Church". His two great works, "Summa Contra Gentiles" and "Summa Theologia" are still considered great books of the western world. Thomas studied with Albert the Great, a Dominican monk centuries ahead of his time in Astronomy and Chemistry. Thomas received a doctorate and believed in "natural law", this is where the prohibition on abortion and contraception derives from in the church. As a man who had written all his life, he was suddenly silenced in 1272 when he received a revelation of which he said, "The end of my labours is come. All that I have written appears to be so much straw after all that has been revealed to me".
