St. Kateri Tekawitha was born in New York, daughter to a Mohawk chief and an Algonquin mother in 1656. She took vows of chastity in 1679. It is said that upon her death the pox marks cleared from her face.
"Holy St. Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks, pray for us. May we learn to walk in harmony with the natural world. There may we find comfort and joy until we find our way to the Great Spirits."
