Michael M. Hughes, creator of the globally viral Spell to Bind Donald Trump (the largest mass magical working in history), will explore the long history of witchcraft and magic as tools of social and political resistance. This workshop looks at the fascinating history of magical resistance, from historical accounts of European witchcraft, African American Vodou and Conjure against slavers, witches and occultists vs Nazis, through the turbulent, acid-drenched 60s, and to the present renaissance of magic resistance in the era of Trumpism. We’ll view some powerful, seldom-seen images, explore hidden stories and legends, and end with a ritual from Magic for the Resistance: Rituals and Spells for Change. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
Nick Dickinson, hereditary folk-witch (Greek/Roma), yogi, and feral tantric Buddhist spell-crafter (whose work is featured in Magic for the Resistance), will lead an opening ritual to ground, empower, and induce a state of clarified awareness for our inquiry and discussion.
