The crow is often seen as a messenger of the spirits and in some traditions is believed to travel between the realm of the living and the dead. The diverse chattering of crows, and the complexity of their language has led many to consider them creatures who rule the tongue and the art of communication. Due to their high intelligence and tendency to be curious the crow is often cast as a trickster spirit in folk tales. Or by nature of it blackend plumes and ominous call, or as an omen of grim tidings. Due to their common use as an augur along with their associations with communication the crow is sometimes seen as having virtues which may assist those who work at divination and mediumship. There are in fact several traditions of crow augury which deal with counting the number of crows one sees.
“One for sorrow, two for mirth,
Three for a wedding, four for a birth,
Five for silver, six for gold,
Seven for a secret not to be told.
Eight for heaven, nine for hell,
And ten for the devil’s own sel’.”

Our crow fetishes are designed to function as decorative, devotional, or inspirited pieces for those who work with the crow for totemic virtues, as an emblem of deity, as familiar spirit, or as an emissary to other realms. Each is handcrafted by Matthew Venus from natural, durable clay which has been embedded with crow feathers burned to ash, bone dust, and a selection of herbs long associated with communication, divination, and necromancy. They are designed to be hung upon the wall and may be ritually enlivened by their owner to serve as an appropriate spirit house or icon of power.
Due to the handcrafted nature of our fetishes no two will look exactly alike, included pictures are examples of what you will receive. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your item to ship depending upon our current workload.
